


Open Source 101: Git, GitHub, and Real Contribution
On the 16th of January 2026, Coding for Social Good Nepal conducted a comprehensive workshop on open-source contribution at Embark College, Pulchowk as part of Skill Week. The workshop provided participants with a clear understanding of how open-source software works and why it powers the world's most innovative technologies.
Participants learned essential Git and GitHub workflows used by developers, tech companies, and global open-source communities. The session covered real-world contribution workflows, open-source collaboration best practices, understanding repositories and maintainers, finding beginner-friendly projects, writing effective commit messages, and building an open-source portfolio.
